Les Elevages Westmount is a company born of our passion for the business world and our great desire to always meet new challenges. Our team is made up of four partners all working in the business world, but in completely different fields. This element greatly enhances the strength and effectiveness of our team. In order to maximize the skills and competences of each partner, the functions have been separated. As a result, Michel and his sister Lucie are responsible for leading every stage of the cattle production, Harold takes care of the animals in the pastures as well as everything related to the machinery. Finally, Isabelle takes care of all the administrative side, advertising as well as the accounting of the company. With the success and development of this family project at heart, the children of the partners work, from near and far, to carry out this bold and ambitious project.

We started the business in September 2015 with the takeover of Angus-Simental cross cows. Two years later, we made a major change of direction because we chose to abandon the first production to focus exclusively on Wagyu beef farming. Thus, in the summer of 2017, after discovering this exceptional quality meat considered a rare commodity in Quebec, we decided to head towards this niche production while leaving our first standard farm to stand out and become a reference company in our field.

We chose to establish our company, Les Elevages Westmount, in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce. We started our operations in a 75-seat barn, but it is with great pride that we will complete the construction of a 120-seat feedlot in the spring of 2019. Due to the scarcity of this breed of beef, it is almost impossible to buy a flock of several Wagyu-type heads to start production. Loving challenges, we bought our first purebred Wagyu cow. Genetically, we therefore constitute our herd by harvesting embryos and any oxen for sale. Always aiming for very high quality standards, we also bought two Wagyu cows called "full blood". Considering that Quebec has fewer than 50 breeding cows of this type, our company is more than happy with what it has developed over time, our results far exceeding our expectations. Our breeding will therefore consist of two different lineages, one purebred and one full blood. Moreover, having chosen the genetic method to constitute almost exclusively our flock, this makes us precursors in Quebec in the field of beef.
